I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations on good, affordable (less than $100) digital scales that would be good to use on a boat.  It would need to be shock-proof and be able to still be used in rough weather (i.e., large waves).  I'm looking for 2 scales both of which need to be accurate and with a precision of 0.1g; one for a max weight of around 3000g and one for a max weight of around 500g.

Does anyone have any input on the Palmscqale 7.0?  I've heard some good things about it but want to get some more info before I make the purchase.

I heard the KD-8000 was a great baking scale and had some cool new features.  Anyone tried one?

How do you go about procuring the scales that you test and review?  Do you
purchase them on the open market?  Or, do you get them from the manufacturers directly?

If you buy on the open market, do you use shipping and billing information that would obscure your identity [like having a friend/acquaintance purchase them for you]?

Hi, I've noticed Tanita have bought out a new scale 1479z supposedly an update to the 1479v, do you know if it has the electostatic capacitance load cell like the rock solid 1479v do? Also I noticed the 1479v looks like the buttons have been updated to fit in with the new 1479z on the US website although not on the UK one, if you could shed light on any matter or possibly do a review it would be much appreciated.
